With a special keystroke, autoID queries the web browser for the current page, and then locates the appropiate login information in its database. The login information is then "typed" for the user automatically. Version 2.0.1 features support for OS X Leopard and a recommended update.

Body: Woburn, Massachusetts - Independent software developer Ricardo Batista has announced autoID 2.0.1, an update to his popular password manager for Mac OS X. With a focus on ease-of-use, autoID allows users to manage hundreds of their website links, ID's and passwords without having to remember anything about a site. autoID supports most major browsers, such as Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Mozilla, iCab, Opera and others.

autoID was specifically designed to log into websites and fill in web forms automatically. Click on the first entry field and press option-command-/ (slash) or option-command-, (comma). autoID then locates the appropiate login information in its database. autoID automatically fills in the proper ID and password or alternatively, asks for what kind of information should be filled by pointing and clicking in a popup dialog.

In the popup dialog, users can select items from different categories, such as credit cards, logins and personal information. autoID uses industry standard, strong 448 bit encryption to keep the database secure, so it can be used to track serial numbers, credit card information, important notes and more.

Version 2.0.1 now supports Mac OS X Leopard, and sets the roadmap for an upcoming iPhone version that will include Wifi synchronization. A complete re-design of the desktop version will follow the iPhone version.

"The iPhone version currently in development has been designed with ease of use and extremely fast access to data" said Ricardo Batista. "We have studied the use of cell phones and designed autoID for fast access to data with minimum steps. Instead of taking 3-4 steps for example, you can access data and edit data in 1-2 steps. We have payed attention to users' suggestions and carefully designed the app based on all the feedback."

Feature Highlights: * Unicode based * Auto-fill in credit cards, personal information and login information * Popup dialog asks what to fill in on websites not recognized automatically * Keep track of confidential notes, serial numbers, passwords, credit cards, etc. * Protect data with up to 448 bit Blowfish encryption * Automatically enters the right login information on web pages * Grab the current web browser page when making new records * Import and export in CSV format * Passwords can be changed at any time after verifying the original password * Find, Find Again * Copy the name or the password of the current record to the clipboard * Supports Safari, Internet Explorer, OmniWeb, Opera, iCab, Firefox, Netscape and Mozilla * On international keyboards, option-command-, (comma) also works * autoID documents are saved automatically * autoID can hide itself after its run and opens the last document * Drag and drop to reorder items in the main list

Minimum Requirements: * Mac OS X Version 10.3 Panther or later (Leopard Compatible) * Universal Binary for PowerPC and Intel * 2.6 MB Hard Drive space * Internet Connection

Old Press Releases from MacShareware.net / pcShareware.net

MacShareware.net goes on auto-pilot with MacPAD

WINCHESTER, Mass. April 22, 2004 MacShareware.net goes on auto-pilot with MacPAD.

As of last Friday MacShareware.net has been operating on automatic listings fueled by MacPAD and PAD. As of this date 758 Mac program listings had switched to the MacPAD system, which shows the support of developers who feel the need for less work and wished other sites such as MacUpdate and VersionTracker adopted MacPAD.

As featured in a TidBITS article by Adam Engst http://db.tidbits.com/getbits.acgi?tbart=07463, MacPAD is an application that allows software developers to set their product information in a central location, where shareware websites can go and check for the latest versions of software without the developer having to waste time submitting their changes multiple times.

On the Windows side of the MacShareware.net site (also called pcShareware.net when viewed from a Windows PC) PAD listings amount to 15,198 which shows the Windows community fully supports PAD and dozens of listings are updated daily via automated tools.

The original developer does not need to re-submit the listing and errors are minimized since there is no human intervention. Software reviews and comments are also screened before posting so that comments are honest and constructive.

MacShareware.net announces support for MacPAD and automatic updates

WINCHESTER, Mass. December 8, 2003--MacShareware.net announces support for MacPAD and provides automatic updates of third party software listings that use MacPAD.

MacPAD is an easier and simpler way for any software developer large or small to update their website, to notify users thru their software, and to update shareware websites automatically. MacPAD was developed by Mark Fleming and Ricardo Batista in collaboration with other developers.

The third party developer maintains a unique MacPAD file on their web site, and shareware servers scan the developers' MacPAD files a few times a day to process any changes. Maintaining a single MacPAD file eliminates the tedious need for the developer to submit, copy and paste multiple times the details of their software on each shareware site every time their software is updated with a bug fix or new feature.

The announcement includes a Software Developer's Kit (SDK) from MacShareware.net which includes ready-to-use software for developers to check for version updates of their software using their MacPAD file. The SDK also includes source code for Carbon, Cocoa, RealBASIC and php developed by Kevin Ballard and Ricardo Batista, as well as the MacPAD application by Mark Fleming.

Other utilities in the SDK show developers how to retrieve user comments, download counts and ratings directly from their MacShareware.net listings, and allows developers to check for their latest software versions in a standard way.

"Developers waste an incredible amount of time submitting their latest software to web sites, and web sites waste a lot of time checking for modifications made to web pages in order to detect a new version of software. MacPAD was created with the help of many developers to put at end to this huge waste of time, eliminate errors and provide up to date listings around the clock with no human intervention. This way developers can focus on writing software, not doing copy and paste all day. Automatic updates are fully functional in our site now and we want the other Mac sites to follow our lead. We will gladly share the code with everyone." said Ricardo Batista, founder of MacShareware.net

The web site address is http://macshareware.net and the MacShareware.net SDK with MacPAD can be downloaded from http://macshareware.net/sdk.html

WINCHESTER, Mass. Oct. 14, 2003--The founders of two popular Mac web sites, Mark Vogler from MacOSZone.com and Ricardo Batista from MacShareware.net, announced today that MacOSZone.com has been acquired by MacShareware.net. For almost 10 years MacOSZone.com has showcased the best Mac shareware, freeware, icons, fonts and desktop images and will continue to do so under the management of MacShareware.net.

"I started Mac OS Zone back in 1994 because I loved shareware." "The 'Talking Moose' (http://www.zathras.de/moose/) got me going. Developers were making great products for the Mac platform and I wanted to give them a place to show them off. Dave Goodfellow came on board in 1997 and has been the best friend that I've never met! I'll miss working with him on the site. I need to say thanks to a few other friends that have been a lot of help over the years: Issa, Dan, Philip, Scott, Dave, Dave U., Akeem, BoffoMac Steve and all the others that helped make the site what it is today. Thanks also go out to the advertisers that sponsored the site. I know the site will continue to grow under Ricardo's ownership."

Mr. Batista said it was an honor to lead MacOSZone into the future and continue its tradition. "As we move forward we will combine resources between the two web sites and improve our processes. We will also continue to provide Mac fans with the quality content they look forward to every week at MacOSZone."

MacShareware.net first shareware service to review user comments

WINCHESTER, Mass. Oct 3, 2003--Macshareware.net is introducing the first shareware site to review user comments prior to posting. Shareware developers have long complained about misleading or untrue reviews being posted by malicious users or even competitors to unfairly disparage their products. "Software developers work very hard to develop new software, and then people stop trying their product because of an unfair review," said Ricardo Batista of MacShareware.net. "These reviews are posted in order to intentionally mislead the customer. Our goal is to provide customers with valid and accurate product reviews, while at the same time, supply developers with the information they need to improve their products. We accomplish this by reviewing every user comment prior to posting."

MacShareware.net will screen all software reviews to ensure that misleading comments are not posted. Constructive comments that contain valid criticism are encouraged, while dishonest or misleading reviews are barred. Users can count on reading honest, fair, and constructive user reviews on MacShareware.net

The new web site is being introduced to the U.S. market today with an Apple iPod giveaway. Registration at the web site is free and there is no charge for joining the site. The web site address is http://macshareware.net
